The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is the central bank of India and the primary regulator of the financial system in the country. As the bank having the authority to issue currency, manage monetary policy, and supervise banking operations, the RBI is the main agent in determining the economic future of the country.RBI Internship 2025 is a research-oriented program that equips students with real-world experiences in economic policy, data analytics, banking research, and statistics. Eligibility Criteria
A student in the second last year of his/her program (or as specified) of programs such as:
- Post Graduate (eg, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics)
- Integrated 5-year programmes in related fields (Management / Statistics / Law / Commerce / Banking / Economics)
- Three-year full-time professional B.A. in Law (for certain streams)
- Indian nationals (studies in India) from recognized institutions/universities.
- A strong academic record (CGPA/SGPA converted to % as per requirement).
- Good analytical, quantitative & communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform data analysis, research, and produce reports on financial, banking, or economic topics related to RBI departments (e.g., DEPR, DSIM).
- Work closely with economists, statisticians, and policy teams on live projects and policy simulation exercises.
- Get involved in statistical work, data management, modelling, and interpretation of results.
- Help draft internal-use documentation, charts, dashboards, or summaries.
- Follow RBI’s processes/standards, keep records confidential, and meet your deadlines.

Technical Skills
- Have the ability to analyze structured/unstructured data and derive insights.
- It will be beneficial for you to be comfortable with standard tools (Excel, R, Python, Stata).
- Have strong quantitative, statistical, and modelling skills.
- Be a good report writer and have the skills in data visualisation and presentation.
Soft Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication in business English.
- Being curious, having a problem-solving mindset, and an eagerness to learn.
- Good team player and can also work independently under supervision.
- Good at managing own time, having the necessary discipline, and being able to adapt to a professional research environment.
Salary and benefits
- Monthly Stipend: ₹20,000/- for standard summer placement.
- On successful completion, trainees receive a certificate from RBI.

- On-site placement in the controlling offices or the central office of RBI, depending on the location of the institute.
- Possible extension of tenure for strong performers (depending on the scheme/department).
Selection process
- Submission of Application: Online form or prescribed procedure (subject to the year’s notification).
- Shortlisting based on academic credentials, statement of purpose, and eligibility.
- Interview/interaction (virtual or personal) for selected candidates in the January/February period.
- Announcement of final selection (usually February/March) and dispatch of offer letters.
- Successful candidates join the internship for a period of 3 months from ~April/May (extendable).
