Job Description: Staff Accountant

Amazon’s FOAA team is looking for a Financial Analyst to join Accounts Payable. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing finance team responsible for maintaining accounting accuracy, managing financial reconciliations, and supporting critical month-end operations.

Your primary task is to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions, prepare RECONCILIATIONS, and perform in-depth analysis of balance sheets and income statements. Additionally, participate in month-end closing activities, provide insight to stakeholders, and ensure compliance with financial policies and internal controls.

This role requires not only technical accounting skills but also analytical and problem-solving skills. Works closely with internal teams, auditors, and business leaders to ensure financial processes align well with Amazon’s global standards.

Key Responsibilities

Month-end closing: Support all month-end activities, including closing subsidiary ledgers, preparing ledger reconciliations, and preparing financial reports.
Balance Sheet Analysis: Perform detailed process analysis of P&L and balance sheet accounts and share the results with stakeholders, explaining the reasons for significant variances.
And oh yeah, Financial Controls: Ensure, Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Audit Coordination: Working closely with auditors to resolve issues and ensure smooth completion of internal and external audits.
Compliance and Governance: Maintain GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) standards and ensure process changes are aligned with internal stakeholders.
Reconciliation and Reporting: Produce, Produce accurate balance reconciliations and proactively address discrepancies or open items.
System Developments: Participates in the launch of a new business or system through User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of ACCOUNTING entries and financial reports.
Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and control across the finance function.

Knowledge of VBA scripting is an advantage.

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliation procedures, and internal controls.
